Hugh Jackman is in talks to play Wolverine in 2014′s X-Men: Days of the Future Past.

Jackman recently wrapped filming on next year’s The Wolverine. If he appears in Days, this will be his seventh appearance as Wolverine. The film would reunite Jackman with Bryan Singer, who directed him in X-Men and X2: X-Men United.

Confirmed for the film thus far are Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), and Ian McKellen (Magneto). Also, returning from X-Men: First Class are James McAvoy (young Xavier), Michael Fassbender (young Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (young Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (young Beast)

Days of the Future Past was a story published in the pages of Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 in 1981. Written by Chris Claremont and pencilled by John Byrne, it gave readers a look at an alternate future where mutants are hunted and imprisoned in camps. The older Kitty Pryde of this dystopian future transfers her consciousness into the mind of her younger self, so that she and the X-Men can prevent this reality from ever existing.
