Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx is in early talks to play Electro in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.

Adding fuel to the speculation is none other than Foxx himself, who on November 1 tweeted: “Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.”

In the post-credits scene for The Amazing Spider-Man, the incarcerated Dr. Curt Conners (a.k.a. the Lizard) is approached by a figure shrouded in darkness. He asks: “Did you tell the boy the truth about his father?” As lightning is featured prominently in the scene, many had already speculated that Electro would be the villain in a the sequel.

In the Marvel Universe, Electro is a prominent figure in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #9 in 1964. In his original incarnation, the character of Max Dillon was an electrical engineer who gained super powers after being hit by lightning.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are attached to return for the sequel, and Marc Webb is set to return to the director’s chair. The movie is slated for a May 2, 2014 release.
