This weekend at the New York Comic Con, Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, announced that Clark Gregg would be reprising his role as Agent Coulsen in the upcoming TV pilot for Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

Gregg played the character in both Iron Man movies, as well as Thor, and most recently The Avengers.

This announcement comes as a shock to many, as the Coulsen character was killed off by Loki in The Avengers. Gregg said that at this point, even he has no idea what his role in the show will be.

In a a brief video interview with Marvel.com, Gregg said he had loved the character “from the first time he started to quip with Tony Stark, and to kind of see him brought back and expanded in the different movies has been this fanboy’s crazy dream. And I was very ambivolent when it came time to do the tragic scenes with Loki. So I’m feeling pretty good right now, because it’s something I didn’t think I’d get to do again.”
